When an embedded sales team beats hiring one
Building a regional sales team from zero takes nine months and two hiring mistakes. Embedding one that already knows the market takes a fortnight.
Companies expanding into the Gulf usually price the hire and forget to price the ramp. A regional salesperson costs a salary; getting them productive costs three to nine months of market learning, relationship building and management attention you do not have to spare from another country.
What embedded means in practice
An embedded team works inside your company: your email address, your CRM, your pipeline reviews, your targets. To a client it is your business. To you it is a senior commercial function you can start and stop against results rather than a payroll commitment.
- Target list, outreach and meetings run end to end
- Contracts negotiated and closed, not just sourced
- Process, materials and CRM discipline left behind
The handover is the point
An embedded team that cannot be replaced has failed. The brief is always to produce revenue and a documented motion, so that when you hire permanently, the new leader inherits working pipeline instead of a blank page.
When not to use one
If your motion is already repeatable in the region and you simply need more capacity at the same quality, hire. Embedded teams earn their cost where judgement is required, not where volume is.
